Frederick G. Williams, Jr. Obituary - 2024 (2024)

YORK – Frederick G. Williams, Jr., 94, peacefully passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Country Meadows of York-South. He was the husband of Margaret M. (Miller) Williams. They happily celebrated 70 years of marriage last May and always made a point to kiss each other good night.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 2:30 PM located at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. in Red Lion with Pastor Tim Wagner officiating the service. Prior to the service, visitation with family and friends is welcome between 1 – 2:30pm.

Born February 17, 1930 in Buffalo, NY, he was a son of the late Frederick G. Williams, Sr. and Mabel (Crawford) Williams. Fred was a 1947 graduate of Kenmore High School. In 1951, he was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served in the Military Police Corps during the Korean War, and was never stationed below the 38th parallel. He was honorably discharged and awarded a United Nations Service Medal, a Korean Service Medal, and a Commendation Medal for meritorious service. After serving our country, Mr. Williams continued his career in the banking industry; the zenith of his career was Senior Vice-President and Auditor of the Western New York Savings Bank. Outside of work, he was a member of the VFW, a mentor for Junior Achievement, and a member of the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association. A very talented amateur, his motto seemed to be: “Never call a professional ‘till you’re knee deep in water!”

In addition to his wife, Margaret, Fred is survived by two children, David F. Williams (Mala) of New Freedom and Cynthia A. Williams of Millville, DE; five grandchildren, Sonia Belton (Corey), Christina Snyder (Chad), Nina Riley (Kevin), Sean Williams (Olivia) and Michelle DiPalma (Molly); and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a son, Paul S. Williams; a grandson Maxwell DiPalma; and two sisters Mabel Williams and Jeanette Williams.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Fred’s name can be made to: Country Meadows Co-Workers Foundation located at 830 Cherry Drive, Hershey, PA 17033 or at https://www.countrymeadows.com/about-us/co-worker-foundation for the wonderful care Fred received.
